All you have to do is hand me your palm. I take four readings using a handheld spectophotometry meter. It takes less than a minute and you feel nothing at all. Your report is generated on the spot, and we look at it together. If you opted for an interpretation, this will be sent to you with recommendations.

How OligoScan Differs From A Hair Test
Both look at minerals and metals. They are answering different questions.
A hair test reads what your body has excreted over the past few months. The OligoScan reads what your tissue is holding right now. Storage and elimination are not the same thing, and knowing one does not tell you the other. Both are useful tools and are not mutually exclusive.

I’m Leah Bugg, a Licensed and Board Certified Classical Homeopath. Going into seven years of studying health and wellness, and a practice built on classical homeopathy case taking.
Understanding your results and why your numbers look the way they do is something that I get genuinely excited about. As a homeopath I look at the whole person, which can include what is going on emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally. Many of our polychrest remedies are minerals - the building blocks of life. Identifying what a reading is trying to tell me about what is going on in the physical body triggers the inquisitive parts of me that fell in love with health and wellness in the first place.
It is also why the questionnaire before your scan asks about your water, your cookware, your dental history, and how easily you sweat.

Is this a medical test?
The OligoScan is a wellness assessment. It is not a diagnostic test, it does not diagnose or treat any condition. The OligoScan provides a window into what has been bioaccumulated into the cellular tissue.
Does it hurt?
No, not at all. This is a non-invasive test. You rest your hand on the table and a light is directed four times at the corners of your palm with a spectrophotometry device.
Why do you need my blood type?
The system uses it to generate your reference ranges and cannot produce a report without it.
What if I don’t know my blood type?
I have blood type test kits available that I can ship to you prior to your test for self-administration. I do not offer blood type testing on-site, am not responsible for your blood type testing. You can order the kit through my site when you reserve your scan appointment. It is a small finger prick you do at home before your appointment.
Try your doctor’s portal, past blood work, or your donor record if you have given blood. The Red Cross app may show it directly. If you have been pregnant, check your prenatal notes. Otherwise, add a kit when booking and allow enough time for shipping.
What information do you need from me?
Your personal information initially to book the scan. I send a second form that requires health information. This is crucial if you are booking the interpretation option, as many lifestyle factors can influence your scan results.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Arrive with clean hands, washed with soap and dried, and skip hand cream, lotion and sanitizer that morning. The scan reads through the skin of your palm, so anything on the surface gets in the way. Please ensure you know your blood type, height and weight before arriving for your scan.
Do I need the session, or is the scan enough?
The scan on its own comes with a PDF report of your results. You do not need the interpretation session to be able to receive your scan results. The PDF on its own can be misleading if you are not trained in how to interpret the data.
The interpretation session is where we work out why your numbers look the way they do and build a plan for you to address it. Most people find the report raises more questions than it answers. You can get your questions answered by booking the interpretation.
What if my results look bad?
Most first scans have something on them. Minerals move, and metals accumulate across an entire lifetime, including before you were born. A first scan is a starting point rather than a verdict, and nothing on it needs dealing with all at once.
Subsequent scans can sometimes look worse before they look better. As you begin to release heavy metals from your tissues, values may occasionally appear higher.
Can children be scanned?
Yes, from two years old and 24 pounds.
Do you offer this remotely?
The scan itself is in person only, in North County San Diego, because the device needs your hand. If you have already been scanned elsewhere, I can read your report from anywhere. Occasionally I will be at wellness events in the San Diego area.
